Care Basics: Making Your Clothes Last

Most clothing damage comes from three things: over-washing, wrong hanger, or ignoring the care label. Here's how to avoid each.

Always check the care label

Every piece we ship has a care label stitched inside. That label is written by the manufacturer for that specific fabric — follow it exactly. When in doubt, err on the gentler side: cooler wash, lower dryer heat.

Fold heavy knits, hang shirts and jackets

Knitwear stretches out of shape on a hanger — always fold sweaters and cardigans. Shirts, blazers, and structured jackets belong on a broad wooden hanger that supports the shoulders.

Wash less than you think

Unless something is visibly dirty or smells, air it out overnight and wear it again. Trousers can usually go 3–4 wears between washes; knitwear even more. Less washing = longer lifespan.

Store away from direct light

Direct sunlight fades colours over time, especially blacks and dark blues. A closed wardrobe or a garment bag for occasional-wear pieces goes a long way.
